Indeed. The UA777 is competitive against NW/DL, putting aside FF programs. For random dates I picked in October, an online consolidator is quoting about $6100 for UA, $3600 for NW/DL for C.
However, if UA makes NC available, the lowest fare quoted is $728 on UA. If SWUs are available, this is a big win. It would even be a win at 40,000 miles plus $1000.
