As a 1P US is ok, as I can pick some 'premium' seats. Across the alliance using the *G checkin/security lines and priority boarding is about all the special treatment I expect these days.
Last summer LH sent me and my family to LHR in a cab from LCY during a baggage handlers' work stoppage. I'm not sure if *G got me treated any better than a non status pax but I can't see UA sending a *G to IAD from DCA in a cab.
