Wasn't SLC designed to take away traffic from AS/QX? All the excess traffic from California to Asia (when SFO-NRT and LAX-NRT are full) is usually routed to PDX and SEA through AS/QX flights. SLC-NRT was going to keep all revenue to DL/NW.
