Now through this exclusive offer, you can earn up to 40,000 bonus miles, 20,000 of which are MQMs when you get the Card and spend $1,000 on qualifying purchases. You can also enjoy complimentary access to Delta Sky Club (formerly Northwest WorldClubs® and Delta Crown Room Club®) airport lounges worldwide. And that's only the beginning.

You can also earn double miles on Delta® and Northwest purchases, one mile for every eligible $1 you spend and MQMs toward status with a Miles BoostSM. In addition, you can enjoy Pay with Miles, an exclusive benefit that lets you use miles to pay for a portion or all of a Delta or Northwest fare.
"

I want to make sure I understand this. The 1st part of the offer is 40k miles, and 20k MQM miles after spending $1k on a new Gold/Plat AmEx card. I assume these miles combine with my current WorldPerks account, not with my Delta account, or if they go to my Delta account, that they combine for purposes of elite qualification.

As to the "one mile for every eligible $1 you spend and MQMs toward status with a Miles Boost"... per the little footnote on the email, that's based on spends through 12/31, but the MQM points go to next year's qualification - not this year's qualification. Can someone confirm if that's true? Because those extra MQM's would push me to Plat, if they went to this year, and if they combine with my current Worldperks EQM.

i'd appreciate any advice from the good folks on this board!
The offer reads as 40K total, not 40K + 20K.
