When heading from New York to IAD, bad things can happen too. Out of a dozen flights, half of them have had us sitting in the plane on the runway for an hour. Thunderstorms in the summer seem to be the biggest reason. A couple of weeks ago, I missed a flight from IAD to Frankfurt because the connection didn't leave enough time. I spent 24 hours cooling my heels.
