Munich has a nice lounge and is a good place to visit as well. Some excellent restaurants, a nice town centre and very good public transport (10 Euros for unlimited travel on the S-bahn, U-bahn and bus system for the day).

The first flight out will get you into Central Munich for around 11:30 if you take the S-bahn from the airport. The last flight leaves at 21:15 and there are several flights each day so you could stay in the airport if you wished or have some time in the town itself.

The airport is clean, modern and efficient. The Terminal BA departs from has very limited duty-free so if you want that buy at LHR and collect on your way back through.
