I'm really glad I invited my girlfriend on my latest business trip
So while I hardly travel enough to be a road warrior, I still spend about three-four weeks a year away from home for King and Company. This is enough to feel displaced by time zones, lonely in large unfamiliar beds, and confused about what to do at night (not to mention having to eat dinner by myself).
This week I'm in Palatine, IL (suburban Chicago) and my long distance gf from Michigan was able to drive down to meet me. It has made a tremendous difference to me in the enjoyment factor. Not only is it nice to have someone to share the room with and make it feel happier, but my meetings went by far faster as I was happy to get done with them and go back to her. Plus, we went to a White Sox game tonight and have dinner and fireworks at Navy Pier planned for tomorrow. The best part was probably her smiling face waiting for me at O'Hare after arriving at the wretched Terminal 2.
Shame she won't be able to come on my next trip with me, I could get used to this.
