Grass fed beef UGH. I know it's healthier, better for the beef, but UGH.
My dad was a "gentleman farmer" which means it was a tax deduction. The steers were grass fed until about three months before slaughter. Then they were corn fed. These steers were awful. Simply awful. Really chewy. Really, really chewy.
I just read Pollan's In Defense of Food. And was traveling in China and Japan for over a month. Food much much tastier (in China) than in US. I also managed to lose two pounds, amazing particularly in Japan where I indulged my beer and gyoza (dumpling) diet. As I thought about Pollan's book I realized that almost no traditional diet includes leaves. It is really seed based.
I also figured out why Japanese are so slim. They don't like the food either.
OK, I'm a bit drunk.
