When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought that turndown service is what the front desk clerk usually does for me when I ask for an upgrade. They're usually quite good at turning me down.

The mints on the pillow bit is nice, though. Especially if they do refresh the linens and toiletries, dump the wastebasket, etc., at the same time. When I stayed in the Ali'i tower at HHV, housekeeping came through a total of 3 times a day. That was great.
