Of course, who's to know if AC would be flying Boeing narrow bodies today had this man not arrived on Canadian shores to capitalize on the Alberta oil boom of the 70s?!
What did Boeing have on offer? The 737-300/400/500 series? The (probably a bit too heavy) 757? Bribes or no bribes, the A320 series has proven to be a far better performer, likely recouping enough PV for AC that any bribes paid (or not paid) were well worth the $$$.
