I boarded a plane ... which wasn't there!

I was on UA7972 this morning, ORD-SYR leaving from B22B.

Scheduled departure 06:49 ... at 06:30, they called boarding for GS and 1Ks, I went through, they scanned my BP, went halfway down the jetway. Then I hear someone yelling; it was the pilot of the plane telling the GA "The plane's not here yet, how can you be boarding?"

Turns out they were supposed to be boarding a flight to Greensboro out of gate B22A.

The inbound plane was late. Eventually they boarded the Greensboro flight, then the San Antonio flight out of gate B22 ... and the GA once said "Boarding Group 2 for Syracuse" and caught himself.

Eventually the Syracuse flight was marked "closed" at 7:53, and fell off the screen. At 8:01, they finally started boarding it, again, for real.

Delays of course happen all the time. It's just the first time I've boarded a phantom plane that wasn't there ...
