in the airport itself, on the walkway between the terminals are two hotels by the same operator motel168 super and Ease Hotel. the 168 is a better rate but is a really good hotel in all aspects. the rates i believe are 299 if u prebook and 349 for walk in. I have used it many times including the day version limited to 6 hours and I beleive was in the 220 range.
There are a few hotels off airport, never used them. Also with Maglev connecting to subway line 2 Shanghai city center is very accessable , u can easily go in 11 hours
The two PVG terminal hotels charge identical rates at the desk. There might be some internet deals available.
I was quoted 298RMB for six hours in May. What I really wanted was a shower on longhaul arrival before going to the Yangze Delta for a meeting. So rather paid the same amount at the Shangri-La in Lujiazui where it gets you a proper sauna and health club entry instead of a shabby shower cubicle.
There is really no point at all to use the airport hotels if not for a really early departure. Anywhere in Pudong is really ok, from the Puxi side traffic across the Huangpu bridges and tunnels might be tricky.
