ORF is both mainline and AE.
When checking in I asked for luggage to be interlined to QF - this necessitated all (3) of the agents from the back office coming out - obviously to show them how to do it. I had the QF ticket number at hand (love the tripit.com functionality and calendar which syncs with google and my blackberry) and they found the reservation that way.
Took a while but no harm - and not only did they do it they also made a mistake - they said "since it's international your item limit is 70lbs" (no it's not - it's 50lbs). I didn't correct them as several bags were over.
I asked them whether they had ever checked in anyone else on QF - one of the agents said just yesterday she checked someone in going to Fiji - not a routing I would have taken but heh.
One point i noted is that when they added the bags to my QF record - they added all (11) bags to my reservation only. When we checked in at LAX with QF, the agent had to re-allocate the bags among all travellers in order to avoid us being charged excess baggage fees.
All items arrived in MEL with no issues (which cannot be said for the first outbound segment on QF MEL-LAX where they didn't load one bag and broke the stroller

).
