The Phoenician isn't far from the PHX-Scottsdale boundary, which is just east of 56th Street, if memory serves.

I think it's a better situated hotel than Gainey Suites, as the Phoenician is cuddled up at the foot of Camelback mountain, with a bit of a view of the Valley; there is a golf course on the property.

No matter which hotel you choose, you'll need a car, though, and hire car rates are ridiculously high in PHX in September. No matter, the hotel is a bargain so splurge on the vehicle.
