This brings to mind an exchange I heard on Channel 9 over southern France between a French ATC and a LH pilot. The French ATC was communicating in pretty heavily French-accented English. The LH pilot asked him to repeat because he couldn't understand. I assumed that the pilot was just giving the ATC a hard time because he wasn't THAT difficult to understand. Well, the French ATC repested his instructions in a heavier accent and the LH pilot asked him to repeat once more. This went several rounds, with the ATC putting on heavier accents each time. The exchange ended when the LH pilot, instead of asking for the instructions once more, just repeated them back in French.
