Without a doubt that is too bad that you had a bad encounter with the manager, but I must tell you that I have stayed at the Hotel Indigo Newton probably > 30 nights over the past 2 years and the entire staff have been nothing but top notch every time.
FWIW, the best part of the hotel is the restaurant BOX105. It is definitely a perk to be able to go downstairs and get a great dinner after a long day without having to leave the hotel.
