Well, the thing is that if the flight
is disguised this way, it will appear the same way on all booking sites. In my case one site showed it as a two-stop, and another - as a one-stop flight.
Also I find it hard to believe that a booking site does not have an access to all flight information, including all stops, regardless of how it is marketed. In the end the e-ticket they issue should include accurate flight information, because what's the point of issuing it otherwise.
As for the traveler mistakenly ending his or her travel early, travel requires a certain amount of knowledge and savvy. An older relative who (by your own admission) does not speak a word of English and does not travel much should probably not have been sent on such a journey alone.
Ideally - sure, yes, of course. Realistically - no, flying in to pick her up was hardly an option. Besides, she flew this route several times before on her own, but it did require providing her with an accurate connection information.
