I'm not clear on your point,
gj83.
As a former Preferred and now a Chairmans Club member, I have never been asked to show a Credit Card to anyone at an Avis pickup site. Neither have I ever had to enter a Credit Card on the AVIS website when making a reservation. In fact, as I recall, during the online reservation process, the site specifically states that no CC is needed to hold a reservation.
My
profile does contain one of my Corporate AmExp card numbers ... allowing me to slip in and out with the rental car without having to check in with anyone (except to show my license at the exit booth). From time to time, when I want to put the charges on another corporate or a personal CC, I have always been asked to go inside to the counter to make that change. The "returns" people with the "remote return gizmo" cannot process a CC change. This is sometimes a nuisance --- although now, by holding up my Chairmans Club card at the counter and whispering "Chairman",
a clerk usually rushes to assist me ...
WOW! That in itself may be worth the $750 or $950 or whatever, who remembers (?), that I now pay annually to be a Chairman.
