I prefer to use a World MasterCard for LDW benefits. The card specifically covers you even if you use a free-day or dollars-off coupon, and also covers documented loss-of-use charges claimed by the car-rental company.
.
Have you actually claimed the loss-of-use charges and been successful?
We had a hailstorm damage in Yellowstone NP. World MC (A Citi card) shot down the portion of loss-of-usage, despite Thrifty faxed the logs to them.
From the outset, the adjuster at MC wanted to settle the claim, but just the 2200+ repair bill - he approved w/o any question (well-documented by us on the damage, with video clip), but very reluctant to wait for the loss-of-use documentation. I had to beg him not to settle the claim but wait for the fax. He shot down that part nonetheless. The rental car side told me, (their claims were handled by a 3rd party), they have never seen MC pay one case of the loss-of-use. An Avis location manager used to post on FT in the Avis forum also privately confirmed with me such practice by MC.
So I am curious about have you been successful in getting MC paid that?
