I welcome yo to sarawak.

I have been living in Sarawak for the last 10 years, and my perception of what is fun or enjoyable will be different from someone from USA. what you might find "Wow", I consider "boring". :-)

What I can say is from my observation, most foreigners here stay one max 2 nights at Batang Ai Hilton and 2 -3 nights at Hilton Kuching.

I also dont know how long your proposed trip is, so a lot depends on that.

dont worry about language, I can tell you the people here speak better English than you can imagine. you will not have language problem here.

Get here first, and you can book your side trips once you are here. You dont hv to book them now.

As for cost of meals at Hilton batang Ai, as far as I can recall, most of the time the hotel is not full, so they usually have buffet meals rather than ala carte. The buffet dinner is no more than USD15 or so and thereabouts for breakfast. The spread is decent. The breakfast and dinner inclusive shouldnt be USD120. For USD120, you may have included the cost of the transportation from Kuching hitlon to Batand Ai hilton I think.

As for snorkelling, Sarawak has some spots, but the better ones in East Malaysia are really in Sabah. Anyway, if you want, I can give you some contacts and you can call them when you arrive or just before you arrive.

If you want, you can give me your email and I can brief you further and even help book the hotels for you.

PS Are you British by the way - you refer to Monty Python - thats very British ah?
