People placing their items in which shifts stuff incurrs automatic charges. I've heard The Westin Prince in Toronto has one of those automated fridges. If you place your own stuff in you get billed like $25, but on the other hand I think they will give you a fridge if you ask.
The Westin Tampa Bay also has those fridges with electronic sensors that detect bottle movement. And that hotel has been open for only a few months.
I like having an empty fridge (like in many Sheratons), so I can store my take-away meals. I couldn't care less about the inclusion of a mini-bar. (Likewise for room service, though it is nice to have 24-hour access to food.) Having to keep track of a refrigerator key is also a bit of a hassle.
