Christmas really "belongs" to the German-speaking countries. Any town of size will have a Christmas-market, larger cities will have several, some of them "themed". Food, drink, alcohol, trinkets, it will all be there.

While I love traveling in France, Christmas there, as a Latin country, is just not the same... Different and lovely still, but not the same.
