Had pretty much the same experience last year, with room upgrade and lounge access although my rate included the buffet breakfast downstairs - excellent! The proximity to South Terminal is hard to beat -reasonably priced snacks available at the airport and hotel check-out to airport check-in counter in less than 10 minutes. This is now my hotel of choice for an early a.m. departure from LGW.
