Embassy Suites Orlando - International Drive/Jamaican Court Trip Reports and Reviews

Hi,

I stayed here for one night before moooving to the Hilton Resort WDW.

Date of Stay : 18th April 2002
Room: 602
Rate :$115

i arrived around 4pm and checked in quickly. The builing is triangular in shape with the walways inside overlooking the covered atrium (8 floors).
The suite itself is standard ES and the Embassy touch box was waiting in the room ( two bottles of water,a granola bar,a packet of avocado crisps and the welcome letter.).
The room faced I4.
The pool is Indoor/Outdoor with a plastic flaps separating the inside/outside which go into the water about 6inches ie you have to push them out of your way or dive underneath them to go into the outside pool and vv.
The pool was narrow and the water was cold!! ( felt like North Sea Cold so it was uncomfortable to stay in the water not moving for a after a period of time. Children did not seem to mind though. The sun deck was not especially peacefull as you had the constant I4 traffic.
Spa was small and the fitness room was small but fine.
The Evening reception was fine with hot popcorn and frosted ice amongst other things.
Even with the a/c on you could still hear the I4 traffic so the room was slightly noisy.( as the building wass triangular 2 sides will face I4 and only rooms above the lobby will directly face I Drive. (rooms x18-x27 approx)
My living room seemed to have a funny smell by the counter & fridge ( like Oreos) but as I wass only there one night I did not mention it.
The breakfast area appeared to be poorly planne with one line for the fruit and the cooked to order meals with the result that you were queueing for 5-10mins ( separate queues would have been better) There are separate lines for oj/coffee/cereal .
No problems getting seats and given that it was c8:30am on Easter Saturday the queues might have been larger than normal.

Check out time was 12noon , I asked for a late check out as I was heading to Hilton WDW but was only offered a 30 min extension to 12:30pm which I thought was poor ( the hotel seemed to be busy though).

Overall the hotel did not offer a quiet environment due to the location and the pool area does not offer a good place to relax as you will be chilled shortly after going into the pool- agrivated by the fact that the plastic barrier makes it diificult to do any length swims.
If you want a queit place to soak up the rays with a good pool environment then this ES will probably not suit you.

The location just off IDrive is good though.

The Hilton in WDW ( I got it for $98) offered much better value for money.

Regards
