Because that's a matter between the OP's agent and the OP. Look at it the other way. You are working in close consultation with your travel agent about necessary changes to some flights you have. Do you really want an e-mail from BA every single time your agent changes something on the booking? Because for BA to inform the OP, every time something happens to an agent held booking, BA will have to inform the traveller, as they have no way of knowing what is important and what is not important to the traveller.
While annoying and upsetting for the OP, it's not upto BA to secondguess whether the person flying is aware or unaware of what their agent is doing. That's between the agent and the person flying... and BA has to assume that they know what is going on. BA are an airline, not a nanny!
