We were going to take the taxi and train to the airport, but the taxi driver agreed to just take our last 50 Zloty and drive us all the way to the airport from the hotel. So we had plenty of time when we got to the airport, and check-in for the Munich flight was not open till 2 hours before flight time, and we were going to wait for another half an hour in the terminal. Luckily the agent helped us check-in, and we went to relax in the business lounge.
Lounge : Krakow airport Business Lounge
Similar to the lounge in Warsaw, this is a business lounge for all airlines. It has pretty nice selection of drinks and snacks, for some reason, the wifi was not working for me, but they have a computer section where one can use the wired connection to connect to one’s laptop. Then came an announcement that our flight would be delayed, I was pretty nervous as we did not have much time to connect to our flight to Beijing originally, and any delay would have forced us to rebook to some other flights. I checked with the lounge reception, and they told me not to worry, because it’s only a 20 minute delay.

Flight: LH 3335 Krakow (KRK) 5:00pm Munich (MUC) 6:25pm
Aircraft: CR9
Distance: 380 miles
Scheduled Flight Time : 1 hr 25 min
Class: Business
For our flight to Munich, it’s a CR9 and the seating was a 2x2 configuration throughout, but Lufthansa blocks off an empty seat for the business class section. This is much better than the LOT flight we flew in from Warsaw to Krakow. And the food was also quite good for such a short flight, with salmon, salad, dinner roll, chocolate and coffee.

Once we landed in Munich, we looked for the gate to our flight to Beijing. The transit in Munich was great as while we had to go through passport control, we did not have to re-clear security. Still, we did not have much time because of the slight delay of the flight from Krakow, and we had to skip visiting the lounge. People were just about to line up boarding when we arrived at the gate.
While we found the Lufthansa economy seats too cramped, the business class seats were quite good. Like the LOT flight, the seat in the sleep position is almost lie flat, but at a slanted angle. We found it actually easier to sleep at a regular recline angle. The amenity kit is also quite nicely packed, and the blue bag is nicer looking than the United’s nylon bag.

The menus are printed in a A4 paper size booklet. I had the roast beef and bean salad for appetizer, and the chicken braised in red wine for the main entrée. I think the food quality was only OK, but it’s made up with the delicious chocolate cake for dessert. And the Mozart chocolate was a nice bonus also.

Breakfast was a Turkey Ham and Tomato omelet, with some diced potato and a croissant. We were well fed when we arrived in Beijing.
