Wife and I want to take advantage of the long New Years weekend this year (Dec 30 - Jan 3). Deciding between a wintery snow destination or a sunny beach destination. We always do a snow trip, so I'm kind of getting pressured by the wife to try the sunny option.
We REALLY love the concept of luxury all inclusive and have had a great time at places like Triple Creek Ranch, Singita Boulders, and FS Tented Camp. Sadly, our first 2 choices (King Pacific and Clayoquot) are both closed for winter.
As such, we're considering:
1. Little Palm Island - This is our first available choice and we've always wanted to try it. However, the more recent reviews on Tripadvisor discuss severe cutbacks in personnel and service levels such that it negatively impacts the experience. Anyone else have recent feedback on LPI?
2. The Royal Playa Del Carmen - Surprisingly consistent excellent reviews on TA + a nice write up by Forbes. Biggest drawback is that they have a 6 night minimum for NYE. I've been able to negotiate minimum stays in the past, but not sure about this one.
3. Royal Hideaway Playacar - Virtuoso pushes them, but the TA reviews are not nearly as fantastic as the Royal PDC. Sold Out.
4. Jumby Bay - everyone here seems to like it, but Sold Out.
5. Malliouhana - same as above, Sold Out.
Other ideas...perhaps that are not sold out?
