Can't speak for KF nor for this particular route, but if it's a QF flight (QF metal), they're generally fairly flexible for you to fly on a different day. However, they are less keen if you want to re-route because of it, particularly if it involves another airline.
It also can depend on your QFF status. If you can access the Premium Desk, get them to deal with it.

I was booked in business with pending upgrade to first thus no need for QF to offer me anything. As long as you are ticketed in F at time a downgauge is made they will either provide compensation or an alternative (dates/routing). This is independent on whether paid or award, although presumably they'll be more generous for paid high status than award no status.
