Thumbs down Bad Flight Experience

Last night I had a flight connecting into PHL and arriving into BOS. On the first leg of the flight, it was delayed by one hour. After an hour we boarded only to find out the plane had a maintenance problem and it was going to take at least two additional hours to fix.

The agents offered hotel vouchers and I'm flying out this morning instead of last night. I go home on weekends so by leaving today instead of yesterday I end up being home for the weekend for about 24 hours.

While it was originally booked as a connecting flight, they rebooked me today for a direct flight to BOS. While it's nice to have the direct flight, I paid the extra taxes, etc., for connecting flights.

Do they reimburse the extra taxes, etc since it's now a direct flight? Also, would I be simply expecting a $50-$100 travel voucher for putting in a complaint with US?
