Still sounds like quite a bit of hassle, but possibly worth it for the relatively low outlay (similar to annual fee for BD credit card and 20K bonus miles).
Very little hassle if you need to trigger a voucher and have nothing to buy. Pay in a grand then go to the cash point 5 times and repeat. It will cost you £10 per £1k as you get charged £2 per withdraw but it is still an easy way to do it.
