ClassicBusiness N.A. flights all coming up 60k instead of 40k - only choice to call?
I've noticed that many of the Aeroplan Classic (non-priority) award bookings for Business class within North America are coming in at 60,000 Aeroplan cost, rather than the standard 40,000 Aeroplan points. Here's an example:
SAN-YUL Oct9-Oct13
or
SAN-YOW Oct9-Oct13
We almost decided to just forget it, but made a quick call to the Aeroplan booking centre last night to double-check that it wasn't mistake.
The Aeroplan booking centre was able to see all of the flights as 40,000 instead of the 60,000 we are seeing online. The customer rep concluded that it was because the online booking system was picking up the FirstClass (as opposed to Business Class) seats on the UnitedAirlines system (which adds the extra 20,000 points cost), and found it odd that the Aeroplan booking system couldn't see the business class only seats.
Does anyone know of any other way around this other than calling in and swallowing the $30 call-in service charge each time? Seems like a roundabout way to have to do it...
