I really wish that Hilton would get their story straight and be more careful in what they convey to their members.
In this case, it is clearly a typo that they say it ended for other than Diamands on December 31, 2003, but it just demonstrates the inconsistency of their message - i.e. some agents still telling members that the program is in place, others saying it ended at start of 2002, some saying it ended end of 2002 (which I now believe to be the case), and some typos that say end of 2003.
While they gave me 1000 points as a "goodwill gesture", I am not really satisfied. My referrals from jast last week have between them totalled 3 stays. It was immediately before (4 days) I took the effort to bring in these new members that I was told by an agent that the program still existed. Had I been told the truth, I would probably not have expended as much effort

Member get a Member is now available exclusively for selected Diamond VIP representatives and the previous Member get a Member program was discontinued as of December 31, 2003.

Then you have a serious problem. I called your hhonors number in mid march and specifically asked if the program was still active and 1) was told that it was, and 2) when I asked how many referrals I presently had, the person I spoke with it researched that and told me that I currently had 1.
I relied on that respoinse and went out of my way to make three referrals.
If it was not active, you should NOT have reps telling people that it is active, and then when they do work relying on those statements, tell them that such benefits are not available.
I am extremely dissapointed with this turn of events. If you want to change your program, you have a right to do it. To misrepresent the current state of your program to members is abhorrent.
