Recently it's becoming harder and harder. Online they won't let you select those seats (some airlines charge more, others just don't let you select the seats). If you call the airline they usually tell you that they don't release those seats until 24 hours prior to departure. Whatever I do it seems like most times I don't get the emergency exit seat and in place of me (or some other tall person) there is some tiny 4 feet tall asian chick who curls up in her seat and doesn't even use her leg room for her legs! It's almost a spiteful curse against the tall people when I see that ;-)
Anyway, joking apart, I was wondering if you know of any specific tricks to get these seats because I just can't seem to get them ever (almost)

Many of those elites, however, will clear into the F/J class cabin within usually100 to 4 hours of flight time. If you really want to get into an exit row, my suggestion is to get to the airport early (within two hours of departure) and politely ask an agent if exit rows are available. This will mean, however, in addition to early check in you will need to stand in line for an agent rather than OLCI or kiosk check in.
