That's incorrect. When flying international, the boarding pass will be checked against the passport of the person, NOT a driver's license and certainly not a credit card.

If by "epouse", she means her married name, I would simply book the plane ticket as FIRST_NAME, MAIDEN_NAME-MARRIED_NAME.

I suppose that this is just a way of saying one is her maiden name and one is her married name. If she usually goes by the married name, which is likely, that's what she should use.
