Yes, I feel the same way! Not all hotels treat Diamonds well (we have been Diamond for 2 years), and some Diamonds are treated alot better than others! We were at HHV over Christmas put in Diamond tower 10th floor, very noisy with all the trucks and busses that load right beside this tower, we asked to move even to a garden view, but were told nothing available. We asked if something came available later in week please call us, never heard a word! Funny though everyday you would see long lines of people checking in! We were in AMS, paid for Exec room, but put on 3rd floor (later I found out exec floor is 8 and 9), package said free buffet brk, but we were told we could only eat in lounge. When I complained the next day, we were allowed to eat in rest. I asked if a suite or higher floor opened up later in day or week, please call us, but never heard from anyone. Later I found out a gold checked in the same day (an d length of stay as us) and was upgraded to Exec floor! We did not get what we paid for and they were upgraded for free!!! We did stay at Paris Las Vegas and recieved a wonderful upgrade to suite, thanks to an agent that took the time to call and get us a better room!! We also had free lounge access! We are headed to Rome Cavalieri next and really hope we get a nice room with a view! You are right, it can put a real damper on your trip to start out with getting less than you expected! I realize an upgrade is not guaranteed, but we should at least get what we pay for. And when we speak to the manager it would be nice to think they acually cared about Hilton repeat customers!
