An Air Canada Jazz Canadair CRJ-200, registration C-GJZD performing flight QK-8956 from Toronto Pearson,ON to Fredericton,NB (Canada), had been cleared for a contact approach to runway 27, when the crew received a Resolution Advisory (RA) from the Traffic and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) ordering to descend the aircraft, followed by a second RA ordering to climb the aircraft shortly thereafter. A Traffic Advisory (TA) followed without resulting in a RA. The crew noticed 5 target on their TCAS display. The airplane landed safely without further incident.
The Canadian Transportation Safety Board (TSB) reported, that the resolution advisories required abrupt and aggressive maneouvering by the crew. The conflicting traffic were training aircraft in a circuit for another runway of Fredericton with other training aircraft transiting to and from the training area.
