BA policy is not to upgrade - they will leave Club and First empty if no-one pays that fare. Best hope is if the flight is full to use your CP elite card as they will select 1W elite members for upgrade. BA flights are still eligible at the moment - do not use BA exec club it only gives points on fully flexible fares (Y class) and takes much longer to get an award than on CP.
