Currently AA is selling 25,000 FF miles for 20% off, for a total of 500$. Off-peak travel to the carribean, specifially Dominique (DOM) is 12,500 miles each way (25000 rt). A flight from SJU to DOM is 425ish$. Given that I keep reading that miles are worth a penny or less each, do you think its a wise investment to pay 500$ for the 25000 miles for a trip from OMA-DOM and back, which is 800$? Is there any risk to this that I am not aware of? Thanks in advance!
