Yes it is fast, but going through connections is faster as you don't have to go through security. Also the private security lands you squarely beside the other security melee so if they are doing a secondary shoe screen you still have to join that queue too. Also you get a bus from t1 to t3 through connections, where you have to negotiate the tunnels if you go landside
