The web site acts like it knows better than American's DC customers what they want to do.
Everytime I enter WAS, up comes a message saying basically "Do you want BWI, DCA, IAD or to really pick WAS.
It's a pain in the neck.
Were you trying to book flights as a single parent?
First.... DC residents have been prevented from congressional representation for over 200 years. It's not new news. It should also be noted that, unlike many states were people have congressional representation, DC residents
get more back they paid in Federal taxes.
Back to aa.com. It has nothing to do with where you live. In fact, anyone going to or coming from WAS has the same issue, and as another poster pointed out, so do people in the NYC area or traveling to it.
It's not difficult to work around the issue, and there are quite a few things I wish the website could do, but it doesn't. I won't hold my breath. I am happy they added SWUs to what you can see online. It is comforting to know they are there, and easy to know when a mistake has been made, like recently when I canceled a roundtrip and only 1 upgrade was returned.
