A LONE6 ex-US is $6,000 and a DONE6 is $12,000, so twice the price. It's probably difficult to persuade someone they should pay twice as much ....
The rules are essentially the same. There may be some differences (between first and business versus economy) in terms of how far in advance it must be ticketed, how long you have to stay away etc. but those differences are probably not relevant to you. The only real difference then becomes the availability of the required inventory (D for business, L for economy) on a particular route if you need to change your dates or times. It's hard to assess that at the best of times and impossible without knowing your routing.
You could presumably also look at a (oneworld) Global Explorer ticket rather than a oneworld Explorer. For a Global Explorer in business, the maximum mileage is 34,000 for $9,199 so that's somewhat cheaper than the DONE6 at $12,000. Without knowing your routing, it's hard to know whether that might work.
Thanks to all....
I think i am destined for LONE6...
My itinerary is 46,912 miles...NA-SA-AUS-AP-Africa-Eur-home
110 days total.
$24,000 for hotels...$8,000 for meals... and they want to kill me by saving $6,000.
I priced this trip in economy without an RTW ticket. That came to $22,000.
I suggested a RTW to cut cost to $12,000. 'They' told me no Business Class.
Just venting....thanks for reading.
