Friday June 26th
After exiting the plane and heading towards the exit, I realized this airport is more of a mall than an airport. A lady at the info desk right around the corner was helpful, giving the bus maps, etc. After exiting the security area, we went out to get a taxi. There was a taxi dispatcher there, with a bunch of other people waiting, so I just sat down. We were there for 20 minutes or so, and the crew from our flight walked right by us, most likely to a hotel shuttle. When we eventually got a taxi, the guy was an Asian man, nice, driving a Lincoln Towncar, car in ok shape. He was friendly, and when he was asked about the North Korea missile threat, he said that nobody was scared. It took us about a half an hour to get to the hotel, went straight into the line for check-in. I was thinking about something else, and I saw my mom suddenly at the HHonors check-in desk. There was some confusion on our stay, but the person checking us in had called the manager over and she had cleared everything up. We went straight to the room, not too long of a walk actually. In the Kalia tower, there was a Starbucks, store with ukuleles and other Hawaiian stuff, concierge, and check-in/out. Mom got Starbucks (she is a big DD fan, but she can handle Starbucks). After she got her coffee we went to the elevators right next to Starbucks. But they were only to the 4th floor. Then there was another section of elevators right next to the check-in/out desk, and my mom asked “why didn’t we just check in there?” and I said “We didn’t know that we were going to this tower.” Owned. We went up to the 19th floor, turned right, and we were shortly at room K1934. I have the hotel review further down in case if you were wondering. We were getting ourselves settled in, seeing the view, etc. After that, we went to the regular pool right by the beach; it was packed needless to say. When I was done swimming, mom had gotten me a strawberry smoothie thing. Good drink, good way to start off the vacation. She had mentioned there was other food there; I complained to her that she could’ve just gotten me a cheeseburger. We went over there for that dinner. Since there is a LOT of this trip, I will just give out a flat 85 on this restaurant. We went over to take a quick dip in the ocean, and from there we went back to the room from there, and that wrapped up the day.
