Tomasz, it exists and it is not a new regulation. I've done this many times for many years now. I just had a wrong charge once (50K plus 25K for the companion), when we got confirmed into F the return only. But an email and 2 days later I got the credit of 50% (37'500 miles) and an excuse email.
