Regent, like Crystal, has a dedicated smokers lounge where cigar smoking is encouraged. Various other venues e.g. bars/ lounges have small areas where smoking is permitted but I am uncertain whether cigar smoking is allowed. Each line we have sailed reminds its pax of its policies via its daily newspaper.

There is no smoking in some other areas...e.g. the diningroom. This mirrors life on land.

Smoking in the cabins is highly controversial for residual smoke smells and more importantly, because of the danger of fire at sea.. During the muster drill there usually are extensive reminders about not smoking in bed, not discarding cigarettes overboard, etc. Regent & Crystal do not permit smoking on balconies. The man in the cabin next to ours smoked his cigar on his balcony every evening and it was not enjoyable to us. We did not call the front desk but I am certain that others would have. I don't know whether 'the next time' I would allow my balcony time to be ruined by his breaking the rules. These days smoking is less favorably looked upon in many venues, including cruise ships. And non smokers are frequently more verbal or diligent in seeing that the rules are enforced.
