The article stated that "Marriott owns more that 3200 lodging properties globally." Is this true? It was my understanding that Marriott actually owns very few properties and simply franchises/manages most that carry a Marriott brand. This business model would insulate them from the worst.
I wonder how the actual owners of the properties are faring? I bet those are the ones that are really hurting.
it is NOT true...Marriott owns at any one time less than 10 hotels, they manage/franchise over 3200...how are the owners fairing - as well as the rest of the real estate investment community (Note: the family trust does own quite a few hotels though)
