JR Rail Pass Ordinary 7-day = 28,300

Unless they use the Yamanote Line a LOT while in Tokyo, the Pass will not pay. It might be worth the extra 8k yen for the convenience but seems a bit steep. Now, if they add in a run down to Himeji and back, that adds another 9k or so and it pencils out. But then they are running out of days. Can't see getting everything in.
