Cancelled flight, BA's responsibility to re-accomodate?

Due to fly back from SYD to LHR via SIN, but the flight has been cancelled. BA have offered to fly us back via BKK, but in manage my booking there is also seats held back on Qantas via SIN and on the A380.

BA have said they can't actually offer the Qantas seats now, only home via BKK. They have said it might be possible for them to offer the Qantas seats in a few days time. They're not currently sure.

We would prefer to fly back as per the original itinerary, we were considering having a night's stopover in SIN, and we would be keen to experience the A380.

I was wondering what is the actual situation as regards BA's responsibility. Can they fly us back via any routing to final destination, or should they accomodate the original routing via SIN?

Thanks
