Blue Mountains - and weather - often too foggy/cloudy to view scenery
We went on a Blue Mountain bus tour 6 days ago. The area was completely fogged in and cloudy (with intermittent drizzling). We could see none of the scenery (including the Three Sisters), except in the theatre at Scenic World.
Speaking to other people, it seems that weather at Blue Mountain is often inclement, thereby preventing views of the local scenery. One person told me that she had visited Blue Mountains about 5 times in the past year - only once was the weather clear enough for good views of the scenery.
I wonder if there are statistics as to the number of days in a calendar year that one can view the scenery. Which months of the year or which seasons would one have the greatest chance of getting good weather? Can one extrapolate the local weather at Blue Mountains from the weather one experiences that day in Sydney - and perhaps predict weather it will be useful to go to Blue Mountains that particular day? Is there a hotline of some sort that indicates the weather and visibility at Blue Mountains for a given calendar day?
