Also, Barbados is no typical Carib island. The north and Western part look like Scotland because nothing betwen it and African coast. Also, since it is so far East (to the US), it rarely experiences hurricanes (which do occur in September) as they form to the West of it.

Center of island is a monkey reserve and also rum and beer manufacturing and the bay off of the Hilton has 3 wrecks in crystal clear water. If you scuba, the Stavronakita sits in 100 feet of water and is great.

South and West of the island is typical gorgeous beach. Brigetown is very nice and the literacy rate is approx. 98% !
