Perhaps I too have been lucky. Several visits to the Blue Mountains and fine view every time.
It can be very variable - I have left my house in North Katoomba in bright sunlight, been in thick mist by the time I reach the Great Western Highway (about a km away, you could see what would happen well before you got to it) and been in sunlight by the time I get near Katoomba RSL (on the way to Echo Point).
I have also seen it misted out for days at a time throughout the entire Katoomba area.
